4. Establishing Wi-Fi Facilities and Securing Budget

Rising Demands of Convention Attendees and Exhibitors for Internet Access

While convention attendees’ usage of smartphones is rapidly increasing, the exhibitors’ demand for internet access in booths is likewise also rising. For this reason, the exhibition organizer and the facility manager are putting a great deal of effort to equip proper Wi-Fi facilities. Such effort should be realized not only with in the convention area but also in major related hotels. Therefore, the exhibition organizer needs to thoroughly check in advance if all related facilities have enough Wi-Fi access. Besides, as the Cloud service is becoming more popular, attendees in the convention areas end quick messages using their smartphones and repeatedly upload or download videos and data with lots of graphics. Afterall, the exhibition organizer and the facility manager need to recognize the attendees’ behavior pattern and provide adequate internet speed and capacity corresponding to it.

Preparing Wi-Fi Based Facilities with Optimal Bandwidth

To keep pace with changes of the internet environment, the facility manager concerns about securing the capital for expansion of Wi-Fi based facilities with optimal quantity and quality. Moreover, as internet-based technologies are changing every day, there is an issue that the facility manager can’t settle for having a fair level of facilities but be concerned about continuous capital investment in technologies. The facility manager facing such an issue wishes to charge the exhibition organizer for internet-based services. On the other hand however, the exhibition organizer wishes such a cost to be included in the package rate or pay minimum or use them for free. Such conflict of interests between the facility manager and exhibition organizer seem to continue in the years to come. Nevertheless, they need to have sound discussions and come up with ideas to make exhibitions of good quality.
